This residential addition project in Stinson Beach had its challenges being in a flood zone. The addition needed to be raised 12 feet above grade and supported on a series of concrete piers. Under the addition, the space was utilized but required to have breakaway walls in case of  a flood. A special element of the design was the deck which was unsupported below and suspended with tension rods.
